Pitch Perfect for Producers - at Bird's Eye View

This seminar will provide attendees with an invaluable opportunity to learn about the art and the science of pitching from experienced film industry professionals, and then put this learning into practice by pitching a concept in less than 3 minutes to a small group of fellow producers. Through instruction and peer to peer learning, producers will gain insight into how their put their thoughts into action, and what and how decision makers and purse string holders really think. In an industry based on passion and moved by luck, this session endeavours to provide film producers with practical building blocks for taking their projects and careers forward.

Daisy Allsop is Head of Development at Feel Films, managing their slate of literary adaptations from development through to production. Most recently she was Associate Producer on Feel’s production of David Almond’s book Skellig, starring Tim Roth, Kelly Macdonald and John Simm, currently in post. As a script writer, Daisy is represented at AP Watt and her first feature script is in development with Fortuitous Films. She had a regular slot as a film pundit on the radio station Classic Gold, served on a number of panels, and short film festival juries, and taught script development workshops. She is also an Associate Producer on two films with Enlightenment Productions, ‘The World Unseen’ and ‘I Can’t Think Straight’. Daisy was also a founder of Stellar Network UK,

Tara Cook's CV covers a wide range of roles within the industry. Her first job in the UK after graduating from the University of California, Santa Barbara was with Gary Oldman on Nil By Mouth as Director's Assistant. She describes this as "an extraordinary experience that set me on course for working in production." After a few years in production, Tara then went onto work on American Beauty before setting up Donmar Films for Oscar (tm) winning director Sam Mendes. She was Associate Producer on Road to Perdition and then as Head of Development was involved with the likes of Jarhead, Things We Lost in The Fire, Starter for Ten, and the upcoming Revolutionary Road. She has also worked as the Executive Producer on the award winning single drama Stuart a Life Backwards.  She is currently  Head of Film at Northwest Vision and Media.

Caroline Harvey was the Head Of Development at Mirage Enterprises, the production company owned by Anthony Minghella and Sydney Pollack. She was employed at Mirage for 6 years, during that period she worked on the company's productions of Cold Mountain, Breaking And Entering, No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency, Michael Clayton, The Reader and The Interpreter. In 2008 she produced the short film, Love You More, directed by Sam Taylor-Wood, written by Patrick Marber, starring Andrea Riseborough and Harry Treadaway. Love You More has been selected for over 50 film festivals around the world and was nominated for the Palm D'or at the Cannes Film Festival and a European Film Award this year. In the summer of 2008 Caroline was employed as the script editor on the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency television series for HBO, BBC and The Weinstein Co. The series will be broadcast in the spring of 2009.
